A 21-year-old Florida resident named Zyaire Wilkins has been arrested alongside multiple co-conspirators for operating a cryptocurrency theft scheme centred on distributing malware-infected games through Steam and social media platforms. The group released eight contaminated titles between May 2024 and February 2026, resulting in the compromise of over 8,000 devices and unauthorised access to approximately 80 digital wallets, with total theft exceeding $220,000.

The infected games—including titles such as BlockBlasters, which alone allegedly yielded $150,000 in stolen cryptocurrency—exploited Steam's permissive publishing model to reach unsuspecting players before being delisted. The malware was also distributed beyond Steam through Telegram, Discord, and X, allowing the scheme to operate across multiple platforms. The FBI had publicly requested information about these compromised games earlier in 2026, ultimately leading to the investigation and arrests.
