Eire Cid’s debut feature, “The Imaginary Kings”, has been selected for the Madrid Film School’s ECAM Incubator, one of Spain’s leading film-development programmes. The film follows Rude, a volatile teenager in a working-class Vigo neighbourhood, as grief, romance and his struggle with masculinity force him towards greater empathy and self-awareness.

Described as fluorescent, gritty and influenced by urban culture, the film explores aggression, vulnerability and the harmful ideas surrounding manhood. It has received support and mentoring from several Spanish film programmes and filmmakers, and is planned to shoot in Vigo in late 2027, using the city’s industrial decline and port setting as a backdrop for its themes of intergenerational frustration.
