Fontaines D.C. have announced their fifth studio album, 'Dopamine Chamber', alongside the release of its cinematic lead single 'Marianne'. The Irish band had been teasing new material for weeks, performing the track live at summer comeback shows before confirming the record's title and details, marking a significant follow-up to their Mercury-nominated 2024 album 'Romance'.

The James Ford-produced album will be released on 16 October via XL Recordings, with pre-orders now open. 'Marianne', described by frontman Grian Chatten as synth-noir and inspired by the thriller series Ripley, explores themes of escapism amid catastrophe. Chatten said the record leans further into "darker and more synthetic sounds" than its predecessor, calling it more "corrupted" and less hopeful, reflecting anxieties about technology and humanity's future.
