Fontaines D.C. returned to the stage over the weekend with two brand-new songs, "Marianne" and "Six Shot Morning", performed at shows in Cadiz, Spain on 7 and 8 August. It marked the Irish band's first live performance of 2026 and signals the start of a new musical era, with the tracks described by fans who compiled setlists as featuring darker, more electronic textures that build on ideas from their previous two records, Skinty Fia and Romance.

The Cadiz dates were part of a wider summer run that continues through France, Switzerland and Austria before headline slots at Reading & Leeds Festival on 28 and 29 August and Ireland's Electric Picnic on 30 August, followed by US festival appearances in September. Earlier this year, guitarist Carlos O'Connell had confirmed the band was writing new material. The shows also come months after the death in June of the band's longtime manager, Trevor Dietz, whom they called their "sixth member", at the age of 47.
