Fontaines D.C. Detail New Album Dopamine Chamber: Hear “Marianne”

Stereogum · 3 hours ago

Fontaines D.C. have announced their fourth studio album, Dopamine Chamber, following on from 2024's Romance. The band shared the news alongside their first official single, "Marianne", accompanied by a music video directed by Dave Meyers, marking a fresh chapter for the Irish group as they move towards a more cinematic, expansive sound.

The album was produced by James Ford and is due for release on 16 October via XL Recordings. Frontman Grian Chatten said the record was shaped by travels through Venice, Vienna and Sicily, and described it as leaning further into themes of automation and lost feeling than its predecessor, calling it "more of a catastrophic warning" that deliberately withholds hope. "Marianne" itself is described as a grand, synth-and-strings ballad, a notable departure for the band. Fontaines D.C. will also perform at several festivals this autumn, including Reading, Leeds and Electric Picnic, ahead of the album's release.
