Ford announced it will integrate Apple Maps into the computing foundation of its upcoming affordable electric vehicles, beginning with a midsize pickup truck priced at $30,000 arriving in 2027. The embedded mapping system will deliver voice-guided navigation, real-time traffic and incident alerts, searchable location details, and EV-specific routing with battery preconditioning capabilities—accessible directly from the vehicle without requiring users to own an iPhone, though Apple CarPlay support will remain available.

The Apple Maps integration serves dual purposes within Ford's vehicle lineup. Beyond standard navigation, Ford is collaborating with Apple to develop a next-generation BlueCruise driver-assistance system that harnesses road-level map data to enable hands-free highway driving. This announcement arrives alongside Ford's separate efforts through its Latitude AI division to develop an unsupervised fully autonomous driving system expected to reach deployment in 2028.
