Forget Taylor Sheridan’s ‘Lawmen,’ Netflix’s New Bass Reeves Series Is Officially Perfect

Netflix’s animated series *Bass x Machina* has opened with a 100% critics’ score on Rotten Tomatoes, drawing comparisons with acclaimed animated shows such as *Arcane*. The series reimagines the Western frontier with steampunk machinery and supernatural threats, and centres on a father whose efforts to protect his family risk pushing them away.

The score was based on seven reviews when the article was written, so it may change as more critics weigh in. Released on 3 November, the show features Brian Tyree Henry, Tati Gabrielle and Cree Summer in its voice cast. Its lawless West is populated by brutal outlaws and other dangers, with the father taking on the roles of judge, jury and executioner to defend his family.
