Former game-seller Zavvi enters administration again and “is unable to fulfil any outstanding orders or pre-orders”
Zavvi has entered administration and stopped trading, leaving it unable to fulfil outstanding orders or pre-orders or accept returns. The move raises the prospect that the former games retailer could close, though administration does not necessarily mean the business will end.
BDO LLP is handling the process. Zavvi advises customers who paid for goods they have not received to contact their bank, card issuer or payment provider about recovering the money. The company was formed in 2007 after Virgin Megastores became independent, entered administration for the first time in 2008, and was bought by The Hut Group in 2009.

Zavvi began in 2007, when Virgin Megastores became independent and took the Zavvi name. It was best known as a retailer of games, music and films, and later sold products online.
The company first entered administration in 2008 and was bought by The Hut Group the following year. Administration is a formal process in which insolvency specialists, here BDO LLP, take control of a company’s affairs; it can lead to a sale or restructuring, as well as closure.
The situation matters to customers with unfulfilled purchases, who may need to ask their bank, card issuer or payment provider about recovering the money. It also leaves the future of the Zavvi business uncertain.
