Havier Beltran, the former Head of Racing Operations at Honda Racing Europe, was sacked for gross misconduct after failing to report that more than £160,000 had been mistakenly paid into his personal bank account over five months. An employment tribunal found he made a "deliberate and sustained choice" not to alert his employer, rejecting his claim of unfair dismissal and ruling that his conduct amounted to "grave and weighty" misconduct.

The overpayments, totalling around £166,000, arose after Beltran cancelled a compromised company credit card in February 2025, leading to him being paid twice for the same expenses between April and September. He admitted realising the error in July but said he moved the money to another personal account to "safeguard" it rather than report it, claiming he was too busy to flag the issue. Honda's HR team uncovered the discrepancy in August, and Beltran was dismissed in September following a disciplinary hearing that cited dishonesty, despite his 37-year association with the company since 1989.
