Former Luma AI Exec Launches LA-Based Production Outfit Matriarch

Deadline · 3 hours ago

Former Luma AI executive and filmmaker Verena Puhm has launched Matriarch, a self-funded Los Angeles production company focused on AI-native and hybrid film and television projects. The move reflects a wider push to combine entertainment production with artificial intelligence, with Matriarch intending to develop its own intellectual property as well as create work for partners and brands.

Its initial slate includes the hybrid drama series *Colors in the Dark*, animated comedy *All the Leading Men*, horror film *G-Pigs* and animated short-form project *Chomper Romp*. Puhm is joined by producer Morenike Dosu and collaborators from music, visual effects and creative technology; the company is also developing “Affective Content Intelligence”, using biometric and self-reported emotional responses alongside viewing data to inform development, discovery and commissioning.
