Former Telepool Chief Yoko Higuchi-Zitzmann, Filmmaker Mark Wachholz Launch AI Production Company Dreamkite Studios (EXCLUSIVE)

Variety · 2 hours ago

Former Telepool CEO Yoko Higuchi-Zitzmann and AI filmmaker Mark Wachholz have launched Dreamkite Studios, a new Munich- and Berlin-based film studio built around generative AI, blending it with traditional filmmaking techniques and professional directors and actors. The venture reflects the growing push by established media executives to integrate AI into mainstream production, with the founders framing it as a way to bolster European "sovereignty" in entertainment while pairing the technology with conventional human storytelling talent.

Higuchi-Zitzmann, the studio's CEO, previously led Telepool (once part of Will Smith's Westbrook) and held senior roles at Pantaleon Films and Constantin Film, with credits including the Oscar-winning "La Vie En Rose". Wachholz, chief creative director, made his name in AI filmmaking with "The Cinema That Never Was", which won top prizes at the Omni International AI Film Festival and the Artefact AI Film Festival. Dreamkite will develop premium films, high-end TV series and short-form IP content, drawing on a network of AI filmmakers and creative technologists including Sylvia Nitzsche, Albert Bozesan and Eike Swoboda.
