Former USPS worker Damon Matai Seei has been indicted in Utah after allegedly discarding more than 300 mail-in ballots instead of delivering them before the state’s June primary election. Prosecutors say the incident may have affected voters’ ability to participate, although Seei reportedly told investigators he had no political motive.

The 34-year-old letter carrier allegedly separated the ballots from other mail on 3 June, discarded them within about 90 minutes and also threw away other post. Complaints led the Utah County Clerk to identify unusually low voter participation in the affected area; officials are investigating whether voters obtained replacement ballots or voted, and Seei is due back in court on 30 November.
