Former W.A.S.P. guitarist Chris Holmes, 68, has been diagnosed with prostate cancer and has begun radiotherapy in France, where he lives with his wife and manager, Catherine Savean Holmes. The diagnosis comes just years after he successfully overcame throat and neck cancer in 2022, and the family has launched a GoFundMe campaign to help cover mounting medical costs while Holmes is unable to tour or work.

Catherine says an administrative error tied to their marriage registration left Chris with "emergency only" health cover, forcing a three-month wait before treatment began, with only July's radiotherapy currently funded; other costs, including hormone therapy, scans, biopsies and travel, fall to the couple, who have already accrued €20,000 in medical debt. They are seeking €50,000 (roughly $57,000) via GoFundMe, and note Chris cannot leave France without risking his emergency coverage. Holmes had already cancelled a planned UK and Scandinavian tour in May 2026 due to health issues; he played in W.A.S.P. from 1982–1990 and 1996–2001.
