Epic Games has officially announced that Fortnite's next major update will be Chapter 7 Season 4, titled 'Override.' The confirmation followed an accidental reveal through a newsfeed update, where the title appeared alongside the tagline 'Break the rules. Change the game.' Data miners had previously uncovered encrypted character posters hinting at a Gaming Legends theme, featuring references to classic video game franchises including Mega Man, Pac-Man, Tetris, and Sonic the Hedgehog.

The new season will launch on 20 August following the current season's conclusion, which will be marked by an end-of-season story event called Unstable. Gaming crossovers are expected to play a central role, with a Kingdom Hearts collaboration confirmed through a leaked Rocket League partnership that will extend to Fortnite players through cross-linked Epic Games accounts. The community has also expressed hopes for returning cosmetics from older collaborations, such as God of War's Kratos character, whilst Persona from Atlus remains amongst the most-anticipated but unconfirmed potential collaborations.
