Fortnite Hot Bat Summer launches with new skins, quests
Fortnite has launched its "Hot Bat Summer" event, a crossover with DC Comics bringing swimsuit-themed skins for Batman, Catwoman, Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy, alongside new quests and Batman-inspired gameplay additions. The event, which began on Thursday, has drawn attention for its revealing character designs, continuing what Polygon describes as a recent shift towards more risqué cosmetics in a game once known for its modesty; some fans had wrongly suspected Epic had toned down the outfits after they were first revealed.
The four outfits — Beach Bod Batman, Coastal Catwoman, High Tide Harley and Chlorophyll Ivy — went on sale in the Fortnite Shop from 16 July, each priced at 1,500 V-Bucks and accompanied by matching Lego versions, pickaxes and back bling. New additions include a Bat Cave location, the Batman Beach Buggy vehicle and the Batman Grapnel Gun, plus quest rewards such as Batman Sprites, G'nort's Summer Tote Back Bling and the Zap-brella Glider. A special "Shiny Hours" boost ran on 18 July, giving players free Grapnel Guns and Self-Revive Devices along with increased spawn rates for rare items.
