Fortnite has launched Chapter 7 Season 4, nicknamed "Override," which merges the Battle Royale with characters, weapons and locations from other major video game franchises. The update, themed around hacking and gaming culture, is one of the season's most anticipated launches and lets players fight alongside or against Sonic the Hedgehog cosplayers, wield crossover weapons, and explore areas inspired by classics such as Green Hill Zone. It marks a significant expansion of Fortnite's ongoing strategy of blending pop culture and gaming franchises into one shared universe.

The new Battle Pass grants immediate access to a Sonic the Hedgehog skin, with early buyers unlocking a Grace Crowne skin variant. Further crossover characters, including Shadow, Doctor Eggman, and figures from Kingdom Hearts, Pac-Man, Mega Man, Persona 5, Crash Bandicoot and Spyro, are expected to arrive later via the in-game Item Shop. New mechanics include "Lobby Hacks" admin codes for bonus XP, Cheat Codes that summon minigames such as Tetris, and an Override Console that grants special abilities at the cost of revealing a player's location. The season is scheduled to run until 31 October, giving players roughly ten weeks to progress through 100 Battle Pass levels.
