Playground Games has denied rumours that the PlayStation 5 version of Forza Horizon 6 had been quietly delayed, confirming the console release remains on track for later this year despite offering no firm date. The clarification, buried in a blog post about the game's latest major update, addresses growing player speculation that had built up after the developer went quiet on the PS5 rollout in recent weeks. It matters because Horizon 6 has been a huge commercial success since launching in May, and fans on Sony's platform have been left uncertain about when they'll get access.

The reassurance follows reports emerging just over a week ago suggesting a delay, which had seemed plausible given the lack of communication from Playground Games. Horizon 6 was originally unveiled at the 2025 Tokyo Game Show, and with TGS 2026 running from 17 to 21 September, many expect Xbox to use the event to reveal a concrete PS5 release date. The game has sold millions of copies and remains among the most-played titles on PC and Xbox, and was recently estimated to be Steam's highest-grossing new release of 2026, generating around $210.5m (roughly £155.74m) for Valve. Given the strong performance of Forza Horizon 5 on PS5, expectations are high that Horizon 6 will replicate that success once it arrives on Sony's console.
