Four Republicans help House Democrats pass Iran war powers resolution

The Hill ·

The US House of Representatives passed a Democratic-backed resolution directing President Trump to end US military action against Iran, unless Congress authorises it. Four Republicans joined Democrats, making the vote a rare bipartisan rebuke of the President’s conduct of the conflict and underscoring growing concern in Congress about the war.

The measure passed 214–208, with Tom Barrett, Warren Davidson, Thomas Massie and Brian Fitzpatrick voting with Democrats. It was the second House vote on a similar Iran war powers measure, but its practical effect remains uncertain because comparable action faced resistance in the Senate and presidential opposition.
