Fourteen Aussie workers hospitalised after suspected deadly gas exposure at major NSW power station
Fourteen workers were hospitalised after suspected exposure to hydrogen sulphide at the Bayswater Power Station in New South Wales, prompting a workplace safety investigation. The incident matters because the gas can be toxic, while the source of the exposure has not yet been confirmed.
The workers have all been medically cleared and released, and the station’s electricity output has not been affected. An earlier report said seven workers were assessed after a strong odour on 24 October, with four taken to hospital; AGL later confirmed 14 had been hospitalised. SafeWork NSW is investigating and liaising with AGL daily. The coal-fired station has a capacity of 2,715 megawatts and is scheduled to close by the end of 2033.

- Fourteen Bayswater workers were hospitalised after suspected gas exposure.
