Fox Commits to Carrying Non-Fox Content on Roku for at Least 3 Years as DOJ Closes Antitrust Investigation
The US Department of Justice has closed its antitrust investigation into Fox Corp.’s $22 billion acquisition of Roku, finding the deal is unlikely to harm competition. Fox has committed to keeping Roku an open and neutral platform for other content providers, addressing concerns that it might favour its own services over rivals.
The DOJ examined whether Fox could use control of Roku to disadvantage competitors in free, ad-supported streaming, but said new providers could enter the market and that Roku would risk financial and reputational damage by limiting its content range. Roku reported $4.1 billion in sales in the first nine months of 2026, up 23% year on year; advertising accounted for about 49% and subscriptions 40%. Roku founder Anthony Wood will become Fox co-chair, while Roku Media president Charlie Collier and Tubi chief executive Anjali Sud are among those departing.
In short
- DOJ closed its investigation into Fox’s $22 billion Roku acquisition.
