Fox News Poll: Michigan voters split between El-Sayed and Rogers
Democrat Abdul El-Sayed leads Republican Mike Rogers by one point, 50% to 49%, among likely voters in Michigan’s US Senate race, according to a new Fox News poll. The contest is close amid concerns about both candidates: some voters worry Rogers is too close to President Donald Trump, while others consider El-Sayed too liberal.
The poll is the first Fox News survey of Michigan likely voters this season, so it cannot be directly compared with earlier likely-voter results. El-Sayed has a 47% favourable rating to Rogers’ 44%, and a slight edge among registered voters reverses Rogers’ four-point lead in August. Democrats hold a five-point advantage on which party voters want to control the Senate, but 11% of likely voters who supported El-Sayed’s primary rival Haley Stevens say they plan to back Rogers; nearly six in ten voters disapprove of Trump’s performance.
- El-Sayed leads Rogers by one point among likely voters.
- Voters’ concerns about both candidates keep the contest close.
- Democrats have a five-point edge on Senate control.
