Fresh police appeal on anniversary of fatal attack
South Yorkshire Police have issued a fresh appeal for information on the anniversary of an attack that led to the death of a 91-year-old woman in Rotherham. Elizabeth "Betty" Clark was found seriously injured at her home in Peveril Close, Kiveton Park, on 11 September last year, and died in hospital nine weeks later. The renewed appeal marks a year since the assault and reflects the force's continued efforts to secure a prosecution despite arrests so far failing to result in charges.
Officers believe Clark was attacked on 10 September, during which her bank card was stolen and subsequently used to buy alcohol and scratch cards at a nearby shop. Three men have been arrested on suspicion of murder in connection with her death but were released on bail, and no charges have been brought. Detective Inspector Adam Watkinson said Clark's family had endured a year of grief while those responsible remained free, and urged anyone with information to come forward to help bring the case to court.
