Chicago band Friko have shared "Necessary", a track originally released as a Japanese bonus B-side to their acclaimed album Something Worth Waiting For, to mark the announcement of an expanded reissue of that record. The move gives wider audiences access to a song fans had previously only encountered through import editions or live performances, extending the reach of a record that has already been widely praised this year.

The expanded edition of Something Worth Waiting For arrives on 11 September via ATO Records and is available for pre-order now. Band member Niko Kapetan described "Necessary" as the first new song the group played live as a four-piece, calling it "an ode to imposter syndrome", while bandmate Bailey Minzenberger has previously said the track pays tribute to former touring partners Water From Your Eyes, noting how musical influences seep unconsciously into songwriting.
