‘From Japan to the World’: ArcSys Reveals How It Built the Unique Style of PS5’s New Marvel Fighter
Arc System Works has released a 17-minute promotional documentary explaining how it developed the distinctive visual style of Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls, its upcoming PS5 fighting game. In the video, the studio's developers join producers from PlayStation and Marvel Games to discuss how familiar Marvel characters were reimagined by blending them with Japanese manga and anime influences, offering fans fresh insight into the game's creative direction ahead of its release.
A key example given is Iron Man, whose design proved difficult until Marvel Games pointed the team towards the "Samurai Iron Man" concept, drawing on mecha influences from series like Gundam and Getter Robo. The documentary also details the single-player story mode, called Episodes, which will feature comic panels illustrated by various artists working in both Western and manga styles, alongside a soundtrack from multiple musicians using dynamic audio stems to enhance battle drama. An open beta allowing players to try much of the roster is running this week.
