FromSoftware reveals final stats of new Elden Ring classes, and one of them already got a tiny nerf

PC Gamer ·

FromSoftware has confirmed the final starting statistics and equipment for the Heavy Knight and Knight of Idus, two new Elden Ring classes arriving in the $5 Tarnished Edition DLC. The Heavy Knight has received a small change from its earlier playtest version, which matters chiefly to players optimising builds, speedruns or challenge runs rather than to most players.

The Heavy Knight now begins at level 10 instead of eight, with one additional point each in Mind and Faith; it retains its heavy armour and curved greatsword focus. The level-seven Knight of Idus is a more agile, Dexterity-led class equipped with the Milady light greatsword; the DLC launches on PC on 28 August alongside the Tarnished Edition for Switch 2.

In short

  • Heavy Knight starts two levels higher than in its playtest version.
  • Knight of Idus is a level-seven agile swordfighter class.
  • The $5 DLC arrives on PC on 28 August.

Explained simply

Elden Ring is a video game released in 2022 by FromSoftware, a Japanese studio. When you begin the game, you select a character class that determines your initial equipment, abilities and statistics, shaping your gameplay from the start.

FromSoftware released a paid expansion called the Tarnished Edition, which added new character classes among other content. Two of these new classes are the Heavy Knight, built for heavy armour and powerful weapons, and the Knight of Idus, which offers a lighter and more agile approach.

FromSoftware has now confirmed the final starting statistics for these classes, making adjustments from their earlier playtest versions. Such details matter mainly to players seeking to optimise their builds for particular strategies and challenge runs, though most casual players will see little practical difference.
