Frustrated Trump turns on ANOTHER ally as ‘weak’ Homeland Security boss Markwayne Mullin is in angry president’s crosshairs over four key ‘mistakes’
Markwayne Mullin, US Secretary of Homeland Security, has reportedly fallen out of favour with President Donald Trump after a string of missteps that officials say showed weakness and strayed from the administration's hardline border security messaging. According to a Wall Street Journal report citing people familiar with the matter, Mullin becomes the latest cabinet figure to draw Trump's displeasure, following the removal of Attorney General Pam Bondi in April.
The reported errors include suggesting on CNN that some Haitian immigrants could apply for permanent status rather than face removal after a Supreme Court ruling; pushing to cancel the July 4th fireworks over lightning fears, which Trump mocked in a speech; briefly halting immigration vehicle check-ins following fatal ICE shootings in Texas and Maine, a decision Trump reversed via Truth Social without having been consulted; and telling Oklahoma's National Governors Association meeting that immigrants "stealing" jobs was true in some industries but not all. The remarks, along with praise for Democratic governors Josh Shapiro and Wes Moore, triggered backlash from Trump allies including Laura Loomer, Tomi Lahren, Steve Bannon and former Border Patrol chief Gregory Bovino.
