Tamaira Angell Smith has been arrested in Texas, 17 years after Eyanna Moore died following an illegal silicone injection in Georgia. Smith faces a felony murder charge, and the arrest brings a long-running case closer to court.

Authorities say Smith used a stolen identity to obtain a South Carolina driving licence in 2018. When she contacted the state motor vehicle department in July 2026 for help renewing it, facial recognition led investigators to an outstanding warrant; Texas police arrested her in August. Moore, 29, died the day after the 2009 procedure, leaving four children, and Smith is being held in Gwinnett County pending a bond hearing set for 22 October.
