‘Full House’ Star Jodie Sweetin Says Dave Coulier is ‘Doing Great’ Following ‘Tough Battle’ with Cancer

Variety ·

Jodie Sweetin says her “Full House” co-star Dave Coulier is doing well, eight months after he announced he was in remission from tongue cancer. She recently spent a weekend with him and Andrea Barber, and said the time together over coffee meant a great deal after his difficult treatment.

Sweetin said the cast remain close and described them as family; they are due to attend 90s Con in Hartford. Coulier previously said he was in remission from both tongue cancer and Stage 3 non-Hodgkin lymphoma. He has also said radiation affected his speech and ability to eat solid food, and that he lost 45 pounds.

Full House was an American sitcom about the Tanner family, which ran from 1987 to 1995. Dave Coulier played Joey Gladstone, a friend who helped raise the children, while Jodie Sweetin played Stephanie Tanner and Andrea Barber played Kimmy Gibbler.

Coulier has spoken publicly about being treated for tongue cancer and non-Hodgkin lymphoma, a cancer of the lymphatic system. Cancer treatment can affect everyday functions such as eating and speaking, and his experience has been part of the story’s background.

The cast’s friendships have continued since the programme ended, with former co-stars meeting and appearing together at fan events. Their connections help explain why updates about one cast member’s health draw attention from viewers who have followed the show.
