Maria Skopova’s funeral held nearly two months after her death

Daily Mail ·

Maria Skopova’s funeral was held in Sheffield nearly two months after she was found dead on the day she was born. Four adults have been charged with her murder, and a 15-year-old girl faces a separate charge linked to the investigation.

Police said Maria had 33 wounds, which they attributed to separate stabbings. About 50 mourners attended the Slovakian-language service at St Marie’s Catholic Cathedral; her mother, who is in custody, asked to watch it online. The four adults have also been charged with causing or allowing a child’s death and perverting the course of justice, while the teenager is charged with the latter offence; pleas are due on 14 December and a provisional trial is set for April.
