Furious mum shares photo of her five-year-old daughter with Isaac Heeney taken as police drama unfolded at team hotel

Daily Mail ·

A photo has emerged showing Sydney Swans star Isaac Heeney posing with a five-year-old fan in a hotel foyer while, metres away, his coach Dean Cox was reportedly being confronted by women over an alleged sexual assault. The girl's mother, a lifelong Swans supporter, has since written a scathing letter to the club describing the distress caused to her family, saying she now has to explain terms like "sexual assault" to her young children after their once-treasured photograph became linked to the scandal.

Heeney and four teammates — Chad Warner, Riley Bice, Nick Blakey and James Jordon — have been stood down for the rest of the 2026 AFL season after the club found they breached its standards by staying out late, drinking and bringing women back to Melbourne's Pullman East Melbourne hotel. This club sanction is separate from a police investigation into an alleged sexual assault at the hotel, in which no charges have been laid and all players deny wrongdoing; police have named Heeney as the focus of their inquiry, and his fiancée has reportedly left Sydney amid the fallout.
