Hulu has renewed serial-killer thriller Furious for a second season, days before its first-season finale is released on 31 August. The decision reflects the programme’s strong critical reception and apparent early audience interest, while allowing its central FBI agent character to continue in a likely new investigation.

Created by Elizabeth Meriwether and loosely based on the 1987 film Black Widow, the series stars Emmy Rossum as FBI agent Alice Black, pursuing a female serial killer played by Lola Petticrew. Sources expect the show to enter Nielsen’s streaming top 10 for its opening week; the first season also features Quincy Tyler Bernstine and Scoot McNairy, with several recurring cast members.
