IGN has reviewed the 5th Edition of "Fury of Dracula," the classic hidden-movement board game published by Avalon Hill, in which one player takes on the role of Dracula while up to four others play vampire hunters trying to track him down. The game had been out of print and hard to find for some time, so its return matters to fans of the hidden-movement genre, offering newcomers and long-time players alike renewed access to a title the reviewer considers a standout in the category thanks to its added combat mechanic.

Structurally, the new edition closely resembles the earlier Fantasy Flight (3rd) and WizKids (4th) editions: Dracula secretly moves around the map placing face-down location and encounter cards, while hunters spend their turns resupplying, buying travel tickets and searching for him during alternating Day and Night phases. Unlike purely cat-and-mouse hidden-movement games such as Whitehall Mystery, Fury of Dracula includes card-based combat when hunters corner the count, which the reviewer says produces some of the tensest moments they have experienced in board gaming. The 5th Edition also introduces reworked artwork and other tweaks, including an upgrade to the character Harker's status to that of a hunter.
