‘Gagarine’ Directors Fanny Liatard and Jérémy Trouilh Talk ‘The Green Eyes’ as Kinology Announces First Sales: ‘Dreamers Know No Borders’ (EXCLUSIVE)

Variety · 2 hours ago

Kinology has been appointed international sales agent for "The Green Eyes," the new film from Fanny Liatard and Jérémy Trouilh, the directing duo behind "Gagarine," and has already pre-sold the title to several territories ahead of its Locarno Film Festival opening. The deal marks a significant early vote of confidence in the pair's follow-up feature, which will have the honour of opening this year's festival on the Piazza Grande, underscoring their standing among prominent contemporary French filmmakers.

The film has been pre-sold to Benelux (Cinart), Switzerland (Filmcoopi), Turkey (Chantier) and the former Yugoslavia region (MCF), with French distribution handled by producer Haut et Court; it is produced by June Films and Haut et Court, and co-produced by Les Films du Fleuve and Hobab. "The Green Eyes" opens Locarno on 5 August and follows a young girl, Chaya, whose brother Nour falls into a mysterious sleep after their family faces eviction, a storyline inspired by real-life cases of "resignation syndrome" affecting children of asylum seekers; the directors said they researched the condition with doctors and recovered patients to ground the film's blend of social realism and fantasy.
