Gallery: iam8bit’s Sonic Legacy Cartridges Are Stunning, But Are They Worth The Money?

iam8bit’s Sonic and Sonic 2 Legacy Cartridge Collection offers physical editions designed to resemble original Sega Genesis releases, with matching cases, manuals and posters. At $99.99 each, they are far more expensive than playing the games digitally, but may appeal to fans who value display pieces and retro packaging.

The cases have textured sleeves and reversible artwork, while the manuals include new forewords and game information. One in eight cartridges is a translucent, light-up variant; most buyers receive a standard blue or orange cartridge, and customers cannot choose. The reviewer likes the collection as merchandise but considers Sonic Origins Plus a better-value option for people who simply want to play.
