Game Freak Announces End of Beast of Reincarnation’s Post-Launch Updates

Polygon ·

Game Freak will bring its current cycle of regular post-launch updates for *Beast of Reincarnation* to a close with a patch planned for 19 October. The announcement suggests the studio is shifting attention elsewhere, although it does not explicitly say that all support for the action RPG will end.

The developer described the patch as the last in the ongoing phase of major updates and said frequent updates would stop, while inviting players to submit feedback through its support form. The game was released just over two months ago; Game Freak’s next major project is *Pokémon Winds and Waves*, due in 2027 for Switch 2.

  • Regular updates are ending with a patch planned for 19 October.
  • Game Freak has not confirmed that all support will stop.
  • Its next major project is *Pokémon Winds and Waves* in 2027.

Both sides, in good faith

The strongest fair case each way — we don't pick a winner.

The case for

Ending frequent major updates after an initial post-launch cycle can let Game Freak move staff and resources to future projects while giving the game’s current systems time to settle. The studio has also invited feedback, and its wording leaves room for later support if players identify important issues.

The case against

Players may reasonably expect a recently released game to receive longer-term updates, particularly if they encounter problems or want improvements that have not yet been addressed. Stopping regular updates so soon could leave those needs unmet and make the game feel less supported, even if the studio has not ruled out all future patches.
