Garin Nugroho, Mishima Yukiko, Qiu Jiongjiong Titles Among 15 in Tokyo Film Festival Competition
The 39th Tokyo International Film Festival has announced a programme featuring a 15-film main competition, with work by Indonesian director Garin Nugroho, Japanese filmmaker Mishima Yukiko and Hong Kong-based Qiu Jiongjiong. The selection includes world and Asian premieres, alongside competitions, special screenings and retrospectives across the festival.
Seven main-competition films will have world premieres, while the other eight are Asian premieres. The Asian Future section has 10 films, including eight world premieres; the wider programme includes a gala led by opening film “Sukiyaki”, closing film “Colony” and centerpiece “Godzilla Minus Zero”. The festival runs in Tokyo from 26 October to 4 November.
