Gary Oldman and Jack Lowden share emotional hug on set of Slow Horses

Daily Mail · 3 hours ago

Actors Gary Oldman and Jack Lowden were photographed sharing an emotional embrace as filming wrapped on the sixth series of Apple TV's Slow Horses. The moment stands in sharp contrast to the on-screen dynamic between their characters, gruff spy chief Jackson Lamb and his put-upon protégé River Cartwright, and comes as anticipation builds around both the show's return and Lowden's rumoured casting as the next James Bond.

Oldman, 68, and Lowden, 36, left the set to applause from cast and crew after filming a car chase scene involving Lamb's battered yellow Honda. Season six, out from 16 September, draws on Mick Herron's novels Joe Country and Slough House and sees the disgraced MI5 team dragged into a revenge plot by spy boss Diana Taverner, played by Kristin Scott Thomas; a seventh series has already been commissioned. Lowden, married to actress Saoirse Ronan, is also set to appear as Mr Darcy in Netflix's upcoming Pride and Prejudice adaptation alongside Olivia Colman, Rufus Sewell and Emma Corrin.

Actors Gary Oldman and Jack Lowden lead the cast of Slow Horses, an Apple TV+ spy drama based on Mick Herron's novels. It follows a team of disgraced MI5 agents exiled to a dumping-ground department known as Slough House, run by Oldman's shambolic, foul-mouthed spymaster Jackson Lamb, with Lowden playing his younger colleague River Cartwright. The show has become one of Apple TV+'s best-reviewed series since launching in 2022.

The pair have just finished filming the show's sixth season, adapted from the novels Joe Country and Slough House, which is due for release in September; a seventh season is already confirmed. Kristin Scott Thomas also stars as senior spy boss Diana Taverner.

Lowden's profile has been rising alongside the show, with his name frequently linked to future high-profile roles, including speculation over the next James Bond, and other upcoming projects. He is married to actress Saoirse Ronan.
