A new documentary called NAZA, produced by the Guardian and directed by Oscar-winning film-makers Yuval Abraham and Rachel Szor, will have its world premiere at the Venice film festival. The film examines Israel's bombing campaign in Gaza and is the only documentary competing this year for the festival's top prize, the Golden Lion, making it a notable addition to the growing body of scrutiny over Israeli military conduct during the war.

Abraham and Szor are two of the four directors behind No Other Land, which won the Oscar for best documentary in 2025. NAZA, shot at night on Tel Aviv rooftops, was produced with Jim Wilson and executive produced by Jonathan Glazer's team from The Zone of Interest, and draws on investigative reporting from 2023 to 2025 by +972, Local Call and the Guardian. Its title refers to an Israeli military acronym reportedly used to denote the expected civilian death toll of an airstrike.
