Gaza: Rains add misery to humanitarian catastrophe
Heavy rain has flooded at least 70,000 tents in Gaza over the past day, worsening conditions for displaced people already living amid widespread destruction. Some tents were washed away and bedding soaked; injuries were reported, but no deaths.
More than 1.6 million of Gaza’s 2.1 million residents are in tents or other makeshift shelters. UN data says about 80% of structures have been damaged and two-thirds destroyed, while a Palestinian church affairs committee says 950,000 people live in flood-vulnerable areas, including more than 400,000 at high risk.
