Having trailed heavily after the USA swept Sunday morning's foursomes, GB&I stormed back by winning seven of the ten singles matches at Lahinch in Ireland to seal victory, ending an 11-year wait and denying the Americans a sixth straight title.

The final score was 13-and-a-half points to 12-and-a-half, with Josh Hill delivering the decisive point by beating world number two Tyler Watts on the last hole. Home favourite Stuart Grehan set the tone by defeating world number one Preston Stout twice during the week, while Jack Whaley recorded the biggest winning margin in GB&I Walker Cup history, an 8&7 victory. Captain Dean Robertson, leading the side to a 10th Walker Cup win, spoke emotionally of his belief in the team even after trailing 4-0 at lunch, and of thinking of his late father as Hill sealed the win.
