Gears of War: E-Day may have just pulled me in with its 12-player Horde mode and free unlockables

Destructoid · 3 hours ago

Gears of War: E-Day will introduce Horde Siege, a new large-scale co-operative mode in which 12 players operate as three squads of four against the Locust. The mode expands the series’ established wave-survival formula with separate missions, shifting objectives and a final extraction, potentially broadening the game’s appeal beyond its campaign and competitive multiplayer.

Players will choose from Assault, Breacher, Marksman and Medic classes, each with distinct loadouts and abilities, while weapon modifications, customisation and in-game modifiers add further depth. Competitive multiplayer will include four modes, six maps and ranked play; developers say almost all cosmetic unlocks can be earned through gameplay, without a battle pass or similar progression system. E-Day is due for release on 6 October for PC and Xbox Series X|S.

  • Horde Siege brings 12-player co-op to Gears of War: E-Day.
  • Four classes, missions and extraction expand Horde’s usual survival format.
  • Most cosmetic items will be earnable without a battle pass.
