Gears of War: E-Day’s Steam player count has once again blown past the series all-time peak thanks to the beta’s second week

During the second, fully open weekend of the Gears of War: E-Day multiplayer beta, SteamDB recorded a peak of 22,084 concurrent players on 14 August. GamesRadar+ reported that this exceeded the Steam concurrent-player peaks of previous Gears titles, following an already record-setting turnout during the earlier, access-restricted test. The figure concerns the separate Steam beta client and is a measure of simultaneous Steam users, rather than the total number of people playing across platforms or over the beta’s duration.
The first beta period ran from 6 to 10 August for people who had pre-ordered the game or subscribed to eligible Game Pass tiers. Its second period, from 13 to 17 August, opened access to all players on eligible platforms, which provides important context for the higher Steam peak. The beta offered the PvE Horde Siege mode and 4v4 Versus multiplayer, while the developer described it as a subset of the launch offering and said its purpose included gathering feedback and testing improvements before release.
