Google said on 11 August that its Gemini app had passed one billion monthly active users, a figure it described as making the service its fastest-growing product. The company said the total applies to the standalone Gemini app rather than all Google AI services, and reported that 63% of its users interact through voice, while the app generates more than 150 million images a day. Independent reporting noted that Gemini had previously exceeded 950 million monthly users in Alphabet’s second-quarter results and that Google has been expanding the assistant across its own products and devices.

Separately, Marvel Studios’ forthcoming X-Men film has assembled a creative team around director Jake Schreier. Lee Sung Jin, creator of Beef, and Joanna Calo, a writer and producer on The Bear, are working on a new screenplay draft; both have previous connections with Schreier through Beef and Thunderbolts*. At Disney’s D23 event, Marvel announced cast members including Adam Driver as Mister Sinister, Inde Navarrette as Rogue, Christopher Abbott as Professor Charles Xavier and Maya Boyd as Storm. The reboot is scheduled for release in May 2028, with story details yet to be disclosed.
