General Staff: Russia has lost 1,604,110 troops in Ukraine since Feb. 24, 2022
Ukraine’s General Staff says Russia has suffered 1,604,110 troop casualties since its full-scale invasion began on 24 February 2022, including 2,280 over the past day. The figure underscores the scale of losses reported by Ukraine, though it has not published its own overall military casualty total.
The General Staff also lists Russian losses of 12,456 tanks, 25,654 armoured combat vehicles, 452 aircraft and 356 helicopters, among other equipment. A January 2026 CSIS estimate put Russian casualties at roughly two to two-and-a-half times Ukraine’s; it estimated Ukraine had suffered 500,000 to 600,000 casualties by December 2025. President Volodymyr Zelensky has separately said at least 55,000 Ukrainian soldiers had been killed in action.
In short
- Ukraine reports 1.6 million Russian troop casualties since February 2022.
- The latest daily figure is 2,280 casualties.
- Independent estimates put Russian losses above Ukraine’s.
