Genesis’ GV90 NeoLun is a luxury electric SUV with heated floors and coach doors

Engadget · 2 hours ago

Genesis, Hyundai's luxury car arm, has unveiled the GV90 NeoLun, an electric SUV distinguished chiefly by an innovative "coach door" design rather than its powertrain. A "dual-motion hinge" slides the rear door outward before rotating it open, allowing front and rear doors to operate independently while maintaining side-impact safety through reinforced steel beams and a strengthened cabin frame. This solves the traditional problem of rear-hinged "suicide doors" being unsafe or awkward to use, giving the GV90 NeoLun a distinctive and highly practical cabin entry system.

The SUV rides on Genesis's new eMP platform and features a 123.5 kWh battery, the largest ever fitted to a Hyundai Motor Group vehicle, offering 311 miles of range and 10-80% charging in around 22 minutes on a 350kW charger. Its twin-motor setup produces 657 horsepower and 590 lb-ft of torque, while the cabin includes a 23.6-inch "Cinematic Display", a 25-inch head-up display, a 25-speaker Bang & Olufsen sound system with virtual venue acoustics, heated floors, massage seats and flip-around front seats for "Orient Express" style seating. Genesis has yet to release the vehicle's weight or acceleration figures.
