Genesis House and the Gotham Film & Media Institute have announced the first recipients of their shorts fellowship, supporting three emerging New York City filmmakers with funding and professional development. The initiative aims to help distinctive new voices complete narrative short films and build industry connections at an important stage of their careers.
Shanice Brette for “Mumma”, Annie Ning for “The Only Man to Ever Exist” and April Wen for “A Natural History” will each receive $10,000 in finishing funds. They will also receive one-to-one mentorship, Genesis House event access and networking opportunities at Gotham Week; this year’s mentors include “Dìdi” director Sean Wang, Raven Jackson, Josephine Decker and producer Matthew Gross.
