Geologist, known for his work with Animal Collective, has partnered with Joshua Tree-based artist Kyle Simon on an innovative musical project. The duo uses captured moonlight and specialized optical equipment to create their upcoming album, marking yet another prolific creative venture for the musician in 2026.

The process involves Simon's custom telescopes equipped with photodiodes that convert light into sonic signals, which are then processed through an analog amplifier to control Geologist's synthesizer parameters. Performing as The Sirens, they have been developing this unique improvisational method since 2018, with their new album recorded live in 2024 and scheduled for release in October.
