George and Amal Clooney have evacuated their home near Brignoles in south-eastern France after a nearby wildfire spread through the area. In a letter to the town’s mayor, Clooney said the couple did not know whether their home would survive, but pledged to remain part of the community and help with rebuilding; the incident highlights the disruption and danger caused by the fire to local residents.

The blaze began on Wednesday afternoon and had burned about 130 hectares, or 321 acres, according to local officials. Around 600 people were evacuated and four firefighters were injured. The Clooneys bought Domaine du Canadel in 2021, made it their main home, and the family received French citizenship last December.
