Getting to know Man Utd boss Olid

BBC Sport ·

Eva Olid says her first weeks as Manchester United Women’s manager have been demanding, after a surprise appointment shortly before the season began. Following two opening defeats, including a 5-0 loss to Chelsea, she simplified the team’s approach and says the setback helped build honest communication with her players.

The 41-year-old joined United after leading Hearts from the bottom of the Scottish league to champions over five years. With a small squad and a policy of developing academy players, she is balancing results with introducing a possession-based attacking style. A 1-1 draw at Arsenal began a five-match unbeaten run, lifting United from bottom to seventh in the WSL.

  • Olid took charge of United shortly before the season began.
  • A 5-0 defeat to Chelsea prompted a reset and frank conversations.
