Fifa president Gianni Infantino is touring key allied confederations to shore up support for his re-election bid, amid growing opposition to Fifa's proposal to sell off a 21% stake in the World Cup. After a week in Morocco, where he held crisis talks with senior officials in Rabat, Infantino is due to fly to Colombia on Thursday, with the backing of the African and South American confederations seen as crucial to countering a Uefa-led rebellion against the plan.

Infantino appeared alongside Fifa secretary general Mattias Grafström at a Women's Africa Cup of Nations match in Rabat on Wednesday, a day after it emerged Grafström had privately called the sell-off scheme a "sad and reproachable series of events". Unlike Uefa and Concacaf, the Confederation of African Football and Conmebol have not joined the revolt, while the Asian confederation does not vote as a bloc, forcing Infantino to lobby countries individually ahead of next year's presidential election, also to be held in Rabat. The Times reported Infantino had offered Morocco a guaranteed hosting slot for the 2030 World Cup final in exchange for lobbying support, a claim Fifa has denied as "false and misleading".
